The Somatic Alignment System

The ultimate solution for chronic pain & injury rehabilitation

Bliss Lies in Balance

The Somatic Alignment System is an innovative, highly effective, trauma informed program that is designed to bring your being into balance. This program is ideal for anyone dealing with the following issues: unresolvable chronic pain, repetitive motion related injuries (RSI), other physical injuries, recovery from orthopedic surgery, or physical and psychological trauma. There are three components to the program; bodywork, stretching, and somatic exercises. Together these three parts act as a profoundly life-changing system, capable of improving all aspects of your being.

The Terosana Technique

The bodywork component of this program is the Terosana Technique. This technique was specifically designed to work with an inflamed or over-active nervous system. By calming and toning the nervous system, the body is able to reset and become more resilient against stress. Over time, this effectively resolves chronic pain issues and speeds recovery from injury and trauma. To resolve issues related to physical misalignment, this bodywork technique targets areas of tension in order to release and rebalance the musculoskeletal system. The results achieved through application of the Terosana Technique have been shown to be superior to even the most advanced bodywork techniques currently available. Even without the complementary components of the S.A.S. program, this technique alone has brought relief to many clients who had given up hope of finding a solution for their chronic pain and mobility issues.

PURR…

Do you hate stretching? If you answered yes, you are not alone. One of the most essential but also most avoided components to achieving a balanced, pain free body is stretching and flexibility. In order to help clients overcome this hurdle, the P.U.R.R. approach was created. The Pleasurable Unconscious Relaxation Response taps into the body’s innate enjoyment of movement to help clients rewire their brains so they can not only incorporate stretching into their regular routine, but actually enjoy it as well! Even if you regularly practice yoga or another form of flexibility training, P.U.R.R. can enhance your experience and improve results.

Somatic Movement

The concept of somatic therapy and somatic exercise has been receiving a lot of attention recently. The basic idea behind somatic training is to enhance the connection between the body and mind. Even if you participate in regular strength training, you may not be connected to your body well enough to really be getting the results you are seeking. Understanding what your body is trying to tell you and consciously working in conjunction with your musculoskeletal and nervous systems will help you align your being on a physical, emotional, and psychological level. Not only will you feel better physically and see improved results from exercise, but you will also see improvements in all other areas of your life.

S.A.S. Testimonials

“I have visited Stella both as an athlete and as a patient, and the results for each have been nothing short of incredible.

First, as an athlete, I had a muscle seizure while undergoing intense cross-training. After visiting other therapists (and different modalities) for a few months without success, I found my way to Stella, who worked out the seized muscle in a couple sessions.

Fast-forward 9 months. Unexpected surgery on my leg and arm put a hold on my fitness activities - even to the point where doctors were unsure whether I would walk without a brace again. Remembering the great results I had with only a few sessions of Stella's work, I decided to see how she might be able to help my recovery.

After one session, I walked without my brace for the first time. After the second session, I did 50 pushups (after having been able to do none due to pain-limiting restriction and instability). And each visit has continued to yield consistent positive results, to the point where my surgeon optimistically stated that he wanted me to run again without the brace.

Stella clearly knows how the human body works. While this is evident in her massage, she has also provided great suggestions for "homework" exercises that have helped accelerate my recovery functionality and improve my performance.

I recommend Stella to anyone who needs any type of massage work done - the results are more than worth it!”

“I have been seeing Stella consistently for a year now and she has made a great impact in my life. I'm in my 30's with a large amount of muscle mass. I am also in the fitness industry and rely heavily on being able to move properly. I have been to other certified massage therapists (CMT) in the past for deep tissue work. However, they have always left me way too beat up and unable to function properly the following days which was not beneficial for my work. Stella's methods are truly unique and highly effective in obtaining the results of a deep tissue massage without feeling beat up the next days.

Stella is always very personable and engaging during our sessions. She is able to tackle any new issues that may pop up as well as continue with the progress in my other areas from past sessions. Her goals are not to just provide short term relief but to ultimately get things where they need to be for optimal long term health. She is also able to provide exercises/ stretches to target certain areas on my own time.

If you are serious about improving your health then you should definitely give her a try. If you are looking for a one time soothing massage, she would be able to do that as well but I find consistently going has been crucial to my vast improvements. I recommend all of my personal training clients to go see her and they have nothing but great things to say about their experiences.”

“This visit with Stella was exactly what my achy body was needing. I'm a very active 40 year old juggling crossfit 3-4 times week along with competitive basketball and soccer 2-3 times a week depending on the season. Lately I've been feeling the effects of all the activity but I had yet to venture into sports maintenance with massage. The only thing I have really done have been sporadic chiropractic care.

After just one visit with Stella I now completely get her raving reviews. She did absolute wonders for me. I came in barely able to sit still in a chair without rocking from side to side because I was in so much discomfort. I left feeling back to my normal self. Amazing work!

Stella was also very engaging and incredibly insightful in her recommendations to help me stretch and mobilize on my own. I should also note that I'm an out of towner but that didn't stop Stella from going the extra mile to make her recommendations. As an avid and active sports enthusiast, I felt her advice was spot on. The immediate proof was how I felt upon leaving after my 60 minute massage. She was a total pro.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!”
